Launch of SCALE Green sustainability conference

A transformative, action-oriented event for property managers to adopt sustainable practices as part of a successful business model

This groundbreaking sustainability conference specifically for short-term rental property management companies is taking place on 23rd April in London. This action-oriented conference has been launched by the acclaimed SCALE  Consulting team in collaboration with four short-term rental sustainability experts. The experienced team includes our Co-Founder and CEO, Vanessa de Souza Lage.

There are only 100 tickets on sale. For property managers who are serious about developing a sustainability strategy. For business leaders who want to be part of transforming our industry for a better future.

Why should you attend?

Sustainability is being discussed in all industry sectors, and enlightened businesses now understand they need to make it part of their business model. Adopting environmental and social commitments should be an essential part of a vacation rental business. Particularly, as guests are increasingly expecting this and see it as an important part of a travel experience.

Furthermore, some property owners are actively looking for ways to showcase their sustainable initiatives. Booking.com’s Travel Sustainable programme is a perfect example of this. In addition, increasing numbers of property owners will want to adopt more responsible practices, and they need help to do this.

Finally, if finding good people is a problem for your business, having a robust sustainability plan will help you attract and retain the best talent. Not to mention, investors who are looking at ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) risk factors as part of their decision-making process.

This trailblazing sustainability conference will cover all the areas you need to consider when creating your own sustainability strategy:

  • how to engage the community
  • how to educate owners
  • how to get ready for regulations
  • certification processes
  • strategic sustainability planning

Our aim is that you will leave the conference with a clear idea of the next steps you need to take to move forward. You will even receive a free action plan booklet to help you do this – printed on eco-friendly paper with plant-based inks, of course!

The experts behind the event

This sustainability conference is the result of a collaboration between SCALE Consulting, our CEO Vanessa, Bob Garner of EnviroRental, Marc Ribail of QALIA and Nikki Mattei, Sustainability Marketing Specialist. They have all spoken on sustainability at previous SCALE conferences and have collaborated with Damian Sheridan and Gianpaolo Vairo to put together the content and collateral for the event.

This experienced team will ensure that the event provides education, inspiration and first-hand experiences from leaders in the short-term rental industry.

Hear it from your peers

We have made it a top priority that you will hear from companies within our industry who are already including environmental and social initiatives as part of their business model.

We are delighted to have Graham Donoghue, CEO of Sykes Holiday Cottages, sharing the company’s experience of aligning purpose and profit. And Sykes Head of Sustainability, Claire Binns, will be taking part in a roundtable of experts including Katy Davies of Host & Stay to discuss the key elements of strategic sustainability planning.

Social impact is a side of sustainability which is often overlooked. However, the guest experience and engaging with local communities in your destinations offer such engaging opportunities. Rachel Parsons of “The What If Department” and Founder of New Forest Escapes will be sharing her insights into this part of being a purpose-led brand.

Vanessa, Bob, Marc and Nikki will all be sharing their expertise and knowledge during the afternoon. Plus, we have more fabulous speakers to be announced!

Become a Sponsor

Even though this is a not-for-profit event, it will not be possible without the support of industry sponsors.

So we owe special thanks to Avantio and Sykes Holiday Cottages who immediately gave their support to the event.

We are looking for 3 more sponsors and anyone interested should get in touch now.

Pitch your eco-friendly products and services

One of the questions that property managers always ask when they are starting on their sustainability journey is “how do I find the right products and services”?

So we have created a session in the afternoon to allow 10 companies to have a 3-minute slot each to present their business to our delegates. We have a comprehensive list of companies, but if you know anyone who should apply, please share this article with them.

What is included in the ticket price?

There is only space for 100 delegates with a ticket price of £40. This will include:

  • Entry to this half-day sustainability conference
  • Vegan lunch
  • Free booklet to record your findings and act as the start of your action plan
  • Facilitator on each table to help you define your action points

There is an optional donation of £10 which will go to “The Refugee Community Kitchen”. This charity is active in London and Calais and your donation will fund 10 wholesome meals for refugees and those in hardship. There will also be the chance to take part in a volunteering community project on the morning of the conference – see details when you make your donation.

We invite you to join us in London in April and become part of the growing community of businesses committed to creating a responsible vacation rental industry
